2. Scope
This framework applies to all organizations seeking accreditation for their CPD programs within SA CPD Body.
3. Definitions
- • CPD Employer: An organization that offers CPD opportunities to its employees.
- • Accreditation: The process of evaluating and recognizing employers based on established criteria for their CPD initiatives.
4. Accreditation Criteria
Employers seeking accreditation must meet the following criteria:
4.1 Organizational Commitment to CPD
- • Evidence of a clear CPD policy that aligns with organizational goals.
- • Commitment to funding and supporting employee participation in CPD activities.
4.2 CPD Program Structure
- • A structured program that includes a variety of learning opportunities (e.g., workshops, online training, mentorship).
- • Clear objectives and outcomes for CPD activities.
4.3 Resources and Support
- • Availability of resources (financial, human, and technological) to facilitate CPD.
- • Support mechanisms for employees to engage in CPD (e.g., time off for training, reimbursement for course fees).
4.4 Monitoring and Evaluation
• Processes in place to evaluate the effectiveness of CPD programs and make improvements based on feedback.
5. Application Process
• Interested employers must submit an application form along with supporting documentation, including:
- o CPD policy document.
- o Descriptions of CPD programs offered.
- o Evidence of organizational commitment (e.g., budgets, testimonials).
6. Assessment Process
- • The CPD Accreditation Committee will review applications based on established criteria.
- • Site visits or interviews may be conducted to further assess the CPD initiatives.
7. Accreditation Decision
• The CPD Accreditation Committee will make a decision on the accreditation status, which may be:
- o Accredited
- o Provisionally accredited (with conditions for further development)
- o Not accredited
8. Accreditation Duration and Renewal
- • Accreditation is valid for a period of one year.
- • Employers must submit a renewal application along with evidence of ongoing CPD initiatives prior to the expiration of their accreditation.
9. Monitoring and Evaluation
- • Accredited employers will be subject to periodic reviews to ensure adherence to the standards.
- • Feedback from employees participating in CPD programs will be collected to assess program effectiveness.
10. Review of Framework
This framework will be reviewed every 3 years or as necessary to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with industry best practices.
